A Place for Mom’s First “Professionals Helping Seniors” Event
A Place for Mom cares about better assisting our senior clientele’s needs. We recently co-hosted our first “Professionals Helping Seniors” event, to help others navigate the many Medicare options available to seniors today. Learn more about the event and how to host one at your community.
Professionals Helping Seniors Understand Medicare
Exciting networking opportunities for our partner communities, A Place for Mom’s new “Professionals Helping Seniors” events aim to provide valuable information and resources to seniors.
This week, we held our first event with Integrated Benefits Specialist Kathleen Allison, who spoke about understanding Medicare options available to seniors today.
Allison discussed the most common Medicare questions, which include:
- Who is eligible for Medicare?
- What are the coverage options?
- When does enrollment begin?
- What are the next steps?
- Once covered by Medicare – How much money can be saved?
- Where can more information be found?
The most common Medicare plans include Medicare Parts A and B, Medicare Part C (Medicare Advantage Plans) and Medicare Part D (Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage). More information on these plans is detailed in “Medicare Information,” an A Place for Mom resource article.
It is also important, as Allison highlighted in her discussion, to consider when to enroll in a Medicare plan. Medicare’s open enrollment period is October 15, 2015-December 7, 2015.
You can contact Allison about more information on Medicare at Benefit Options 4U.
Jill Beagles, a Community Relations Advisor at APFM shares her thoughts on the event:
“The diverse group of professionals in attendance brought incredible value to the event. It was exciting to build upon established professional relationships but to also forge new ones as well.”
