Today we welcome Trina Carey, General Manager of Canada at A Place for Mom, as she reflects over the first year of A Place for Mom Canada.
July marks A Place for Mom’s one year anniversary in Canada. During our first week we received over 400 inquiries from Canadians and that number has steadily grown over the past year, proving that Canadians are hungry for both education and assistance locating seniors housing. Just last week 1,100 families in Canada reached out to A Place for Mom. Almost 40,000 Canadian families inquired with us over the past year!
I joined A Place for Mom in March of 2014 as the Regional Manager for Canada. After a career at Sunrise Senior Living and Holiday Retirement, I was excited to take on a new challenge that would help the entire industry grow. It has truly been a team effort with all of us at A Place for Mom, our valued partners, and the families in Canada that have trusted us to guide them in their search.
We continue to grow our partner network. In July of 2014 we had approximately 200 Canadian partners. That number has more than doubled in our first year! Every week we are adding more local and regional communities to help families find the best possible senior living solution for their needs. Recently we launched an additional program for home care companies in Canada which is allowing us to help even more families.
I am very proud of the fantastic team of Senior Living Advisors (SLAs) that we now have across Canada. We have SLAs in Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta and British Columbia. Understanding regional nuances is very important to us at A Place for Mom, and we will continue to grow our SLA team with experienced and knowledgeable professionals as we continue to expand into additional provinces and major markets. Click here to meet our current team of SLAs. In addition to SLAs, over the past year we also hired a Community Relations Advisor (CRA) in the Greater Toronto area and Partner Services Managers (PSMs) in 3 provinces to help spread the word about the services we offer.
I am excited to share with you that I am now the General Manager of Canada, responsible for all Canadian operations at A Place for Mom. It’s a daunting task, but a very exciting and rewarding one! Caroline Marshall recently joined our team and I was able to hand over the reins of Regional Manager to her, allowing me to focus on APFM’s future growth in Canada. With Caroline as the regional manager, I am confident that we are on track to achieve great things in the coming months. Caroline and I are always ready to work closely with you to obtain mutual success in this partnership, so don’t hesitate to track us down!
A huge thank you to all of our partners. We are privileged with working with the best communities in seniors housing. We appreciate your partnership during the infancy of APFM Canada, and look forward to growing together in the years to come. It has been an exciting first year….cheers!
